Elizabeth Nelson

College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Bio

Dr. Elizabeth Nelson has taught at NC State for six years in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her area of expertise is in communications and gender studies. She enjoys teaching with the First Year Inquiry Program as it affords her the opportunity to work with first-year students, and to help them adjust to the college environment.  Her approach to teaching includes exploration of different writing styles, interrogation of interesting topics, interactive roleplay discussions, as well as group discussions which enforce critical thinking amongst her students. She incorporates creative approaches to learning by taking an idea and “playing with it” so students can obtain three-dimensional perspectives of the idea.

This coming semester Dr. Nelson will be teaching COM 112 section (005Q) Interpersonal Communication, a course that engages students in the study of day-to-day interactions through presentations and interactive discussions.
