Dr. Daniel Graham has been teaching at NC State in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences since 1988. His academic background is in political science, with expertise in environmental politics. He has taught First Year Inquiry courses at NC State since the program’s inception. Dr. Graham appreciates the relaxed setting provided by the small class size of FYI courses which encourages more participation and discussion among students.

This coming fall he will be teaching PS 201 (section 002Q) Introduction to American Government. Throughout this course Dr. Graham focuses strongly on current events and works to link the textbook materials to the real world. The current event discussions, written assignments and a workshop during the semester integrate critical and creative thinking into the course. Dr. Graham believes the participatory format and the small size of FYI courses help to develop a sense of community among the students. He hopes that students become better-informed citizens through this class and learn to incorporate critical and creative thinking into other aspects of their academics.
